No one will hire you because you need a job and no company will keep you on board because you need a job.

There is no such thing as job security and there never has been, some people have just fared better than others.  In the past many jobs were just easier to keep as long as you stayed under the radar and kept quiet.  We work in a performance oriented career culture that has become blind to age and seniority.  The focus is on delivering results every day, week, month and quarter.  If you did well last year that was then and this is now.

You may currently be in a career transition or feel stuck in a position you accepted just to pay the bills or get by.  You may not be sure how to move forward or to break out and find new opportunity.  The first step is to define who you are and what you offer in regard to your career path and clearly present your “Career Value Proposition.” 

 

These are a series of questions to help you define your Career Value Proposition.  These questions are designed to challenge you in ways that may make you uncomfortable and even angry.  Be absolutely honest with your answers, you don’t have share the answers with anyone else.

15.   What is the best advice you can give anyone?

16.   What is the best advice you have ever received?

17.   What was the reason given to you for your most recent job loss?

18.   What do you feel the real reason was?

19.   Did you become obsolete in your last position?

20.   What would your Dad tell you to do in your current situation?

21.   What do you really want to do with the rest of your career?

22.   What did you absolutely hate about your last position?

23.   What did you absolutely love about your last position?

24.   Where and when did you achieve your best results?
